Pieology Pizzeria

So being from the Twin Cities area originally, each time I get home brings an opportunity to enjoy some of the amazing food Minneapolis/St. Paul has to offer. Being as busy as we were last Friday, Pieology in St. Paul was the perfect place to go for a quick but amazing meal. I haven’t had the chance to try Pieology before, but I’m super familiar with places like Solo’s Pizza and Punch Pizza so I was definitely willing to try it out.

Anyways, we get there and the restaurant has a similar layout to places like Subway or Chipotle: the counter in front with the fresh veggies, meats, and cheeses laid out behind. They give you various options as far as the crust (I believe thin and original crust with the option of either white or wheat) and then you are able to pick your sauce (butters, oils, marinara, mozzarella, etc.) with the toppings coming last. If I didn’t state this before, I work at one of the best pizza places in the state, so I feel like this has turned me into a bit of a pizza snob. Rhombus Guys (where I work) offers super fresh ingredients, creative combinations, and a TON of options, so I was pleasantly surprised at the options offered by Pieology.  I was eating with friends that I haven’t seen in a while, so I wasn’t super dedicated to documenting every possible topping, but they didn’t go unnoticed! 😝

Okay, now on to my personal pizza. I’m not at all picky so I went with the “deluxe pizza” and added just about everything that I could. (I should make it clear that this is a wood fired pizza place which obviously takes it to the next level regardless of what’s on top of the pizza.) Anyways, I went as basic as possible with the original style white crust topped with marinara and mozzarella. As far as veggies and meats go, I topped it with pepperoni, Italian sausage, green peppers, black olives, mushrooms, jalapeños, and onions and it was so amazing. Honestly, I don’t know what it is about wood fired pizza but the way that it greases up the pepperoni and melts the cheese into the sauce is magical.

As far as size goes, I’d have to say this pizza is between 10 and 12 inches? I don’t totally remember if there were multiple sizes offered, but either way, this was more than enough.

Overall, Pieology delivered absolutely delicious pizza that I would recommend to anyone. At roughly $10 for all of that pie, I’m sooooo ready to head back to the cities for the pizza alone.
